And so it begins...

Whatever happened to the good ol' days when kids used what they had on hand to make a Halloween costume?  I'm not sure, but in any case THEY ARE GONE!  It's that time of year again and the hunt for the perfect costume to outfit a seven year-old boy is on.  Where do we start? At Target, of course!  And what do you know?  They actually have something we're looking for.  The coveted Skylander costume.  I had done a preliminary search via Amazon to see if there were any out there.  I've found a couple and the were $35 plus shipping.  Seriously? That much for a Halloween costume.  Does that seem overly expensive to anyone else? So, as we're pushing the cart to the Halloween section, we see it. One.lone.Skylander.costume.   Since it's the only one there, my impatient little one thinks that we have to get it because there will never be another one and if we don't get it now he won't be able to be a Skylander and he's wanted to be a Skylander for two years and this is the first year that we've found a costume and his life will end if he can't be a Skylander for Halloween!  At $25, it was less expensive than the internet option but still more than I'd like to spend on the polyblend wundercostume.  Okay, whatevs, we'll get it.  The one less thing to worry about euphoria settled over my body only to be shattered by the insistence that we need to get the shield and sword accessories that were $10 a piece.  Ummm, don't think so!  After 20 minutes of negotiations, we finally settled on the purchase of one accessory (the shield) but the boy would have to pay for half of it out of his own money.   So now the boy is settled in the knowledge of reigning supreme over all things Halloween (and I can check something off a very long to do list) and everything is right in the world.
